Instructions

1

Bring plenty of water to a boil in a pot, enough to fully cover the eggs.

2

Gently lower the eggs straight from the refrigerator into the pot, sliding them carefully onto the bottom. Boil over medium heat for 6 to 7 minutes for runny yolks, 8 to 9 minutes for soft-boiled, or 10 to 11 minutes for hard-boiled.

Note:

Eggs straight from the refrigerator can crack easily if placed into boiling water, so lower them in gently with a ladle or similar utensil. Results may vary depending on your cookware, so adjust the time in 30-second increments to find your preferred doneness.

3

Once the eggs reach your preferred doneness, remove them and place them in cold water. When they are cool enough to handle, lightly tap the rounded bottom end, return them to the water, chill thoroughly, and peel the shells.

Note:

Placing the eggs in cold water immediately after boiling prevents them from continuing to cook from residual heat. Cracking the bottom end while cooling creates a gap between the shell and the egg white, making the shells easier to peel.

I tried all kinds of recipes, but the shells just wouldn’t slip off cleanly and I’d been disappointed so many times. This method worked perfectly! I’m so happy! I’ll definitely use it again♪

Even when I lowered the eggs in carefully, some still cracked. I like soft-boiled eggs, so I boiled them for 8 minutes, but I think a slightly shorter time would be fine too. They peeled off smoothly, which felt great.

I used this as a reference because I had never made boiled eggs before. It was my first time, but they turned out great!

I made hard-boiled eggs. It was my first time making boiled eggs, but I was able to make them successfully without any mistakes.

I made hard-boiled eggs for tartar sauce. One cracked partway through and a little of the inside came out, but since they were for tartar sauce, it wasn’t a problem and they still boiled up fine. I always start them in cold water and stop cooking by feel, so they often ended up soft-boiled, but now I think I’ll be able to make them without failing.

I boiled it for 8 minutes over medium-low heat (level 4 on my cooktop)! It turned out just right 🎵
